The North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center once again will host the popular Sierra Storytelling Festival with another topnotch line-up of award winning, multi-talented storytellers to entertain adults and children alike with imaginative tales, drama and lively music in the historic Schoolhouse and in the pine-shaded amphitheater (the first and maybe the only one in America built specifically for storytelling). The festival begins on Friday, at 1:00 PM with workshops with Geri Keams and Brenda Wong Aoki. The Gala opening with all the featured tellers is at 8 PM. Saturday's storytelling events begin at 9:30 AM with a variety of sessions offered by featured tellers--individually and in pairs-- followed by the ever-popular open telling session (where any brave soul with a story of less than 5 minutes can sign up), and conclude with the evening concert featuring stories told by each of the invited tellers. Sunday begins at 10 AM with The Children's Show starring our local Sierra foothill's favorite storyteller, Izzi Tooinsky . This performance will be followed by the Grand Finale at 11:45 AM with engaging Tales from the Heart for the Spirit shared by each of the featured tellers. You can become a member or renew your membership now and get the membership rate for this event.
