Neither the film shooter nor the digital photographer can expect to make a “perfect” exposure every time.  This certificate will provide the photographer with the skills to lighten, darken, crop, clone, color balance and generally fix any photograph.  Additionally, this certificate is necessary to teach photographers how to triage, organize and prepare the hundreds of images taken at an event such as a wedding, vacation, or other large-scale event.  The large number of images must be prepared for “batch file processing”.  To open 300-500 images and adjust levels, curves color balance, sizing and sharpening would take about 5 minutes per image.  300 images times 5 minutes each is 25 hours of computer time.  With batch file processing, the photographer will put all the images into one folder, prepare (fix) the first image, select run, go to bed and wake up the next morning with all the images fixed.

Many former students crusing the web page may become interested in joining the certificate program having already taken one or more of the classes.  MPW will give credit for classes already taken or permit them to sit down with our counselor (Bryce) and select other worthy classes and workshops to subsitute.

Occasionally, insufficient enrolment causes MPW to cancel a workshop or class. Minimum enrolment or not, is determined on the Thursday preceding the class. Students, who have enrolled in a cancelled class or workshop and have paid a deposit to the class, have several options. * If any student pays for any class, workshop or photo safari using the on-line registration service and a credit card , any and all fees that are paid to the on-line registration service, Acteva registration fees will not be refunded at any time, even in the event of cancelation by Midwest . These fees are paid to Acteva and not Midwest Photography. Midwest offers this service as a convenience to its students. Any student is welcome to pay by check or cash in order to avoid these fees. * MPW can write a check to reimburse the amount they paid to enroll, and then mail them the check. (The student is also welcome to pick the check up in person at the Farmington Hills campus by appointment only.) * The student is welcome to request the deposit to be transferred to another class or workshop of their choosing provided it is not already sold out. * The student is welcome to request the deposit to be applied to another product or service provided by MPW such as: studio rental, private lessons or the purchase of a fine art print.
