Whether or not you are a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, your support of licensure is essential to maintaining the profession’s access to policy makers throughout the state.
Since 1998, the Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (VA-ASLA) has been pursuing an upgrade to our Title Act that was originally passed as law in Virginia in 1980. If successful, the upgraded act would further elevate the profession of landscape architecture in Virginia. The law ensures a higher standard of landscape architecture and help protect the health, welfare and safety associated with landscape architecture projects in the state of Virginia. (Virginia is one of 7 states that does not have a full Practice Act). Bill SB 940 @ http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?091+sum+SB940
We are pleased to report that Governor Tim Kane signed into law the licensure of Landscape Architects in Virginia on Friday, March 27th. Our gratitude goes out to the many people who have contributed their heart, soul, time and even money toward making this happen!
