Rental Session

Paddle in easy waters of San Francisco at your own pace.

This rental session allows you to take a touring kayak without previous kayaking experience because we provide a life guard. The life guard will be on a motor boat patrolling the rental area, recommend where to visit, and assist you if you need help.

Typical points of interest to visit are; McCovey Cove, AT&T Park, Lefty O'Doul Draw Bridge, Mission Creek Houseboats, Bay Bridge, Cupid's Span, Pier 70 dry dock, The Ramp restaurant.

A kayaking lesson is included. A stable touring kayak and paddling gear are provided; dry jacket, splash skirt, dry bag, life jacket, performance paddle.

Typically your session looks like the following:
Hour 0-1: check-in, area briefing, gear up, and paddling lesson
Hour 1-2.5: paddle on the water
Hour 2.5-3: return, rinse gear, and check-out

Double kayaks are typically used for beginners, but single kayaks are available for advanced paddlers.

Bring; change of clothes (in case you get wet), warm hat or baseball cap.

Also recommended:
dressing in layers
waterproof pants and jacket
sunglasses, sunblock
contact lenses (better than prescription eye glasses)
bottled water

Motion Sickness Warning
You will get motion sickness if you are hung over or just sensitive to motion sickness. Don't paddle hungry. Avoid staying up late the night before. Drink carbonated water. Antihistamine, transdermal motion sickness patch, ginger, dramamine helps some people.

This session costs $49 per person. Cost below adds sales tax and online processing fee.

RESTRICTIONS
Participants should weigh between 50 lbs and 200 lbs.
No swimming ability is required.
Children are allowed, but an adult needs to accompany a child on a double kayak. (There is no charge for children under 11 year old for this session.)

Groups of ten or more qualify for a group rate. Please call or email us to make arrangements. This package is a special offer and can not be combined with any other discount.

City Kayak Purchase/refund policy:
24 HOUR RESERVATION
We may not be notified of your reservation if the event is scheduled within 24 hours. Please call (415)850-9971 to confirm the reservation.

EVENT CANCELLATION/CHANGE
We may move, postpone or cancel an event due to the weather. When an event is cancelled, we refund all costs including Acteva processing fee.
If there is less than 3 participants, we may cancel or substitute a trip with another event. The price difference will be credited back to you.

CUSTOMER CHANGE
Please contact City Kayak by email or by phone. The following fees apply per person; $5 change, $7 cancellation, $15 change or cancellation with meals. There is no refund after the event or trip is finished. 7 day policy applies to group or private trip. The processing fee charged by Acteva is not refundable.

If you need to cancel a trip, let us know which of the following options you prefer;

1. Store Credit
Leave a store credit at City Kayak. Because your payment has been processed already, you will save the transaction fee on your next trip. The credit is good for 3 years. You can email to reservation@citykayak.com or call City Kayak to arrange how you want to use the store credit.

2. Refund
Please call or email reservation@citykayak.com with your reservation confirmation email. There will be a cancellation fee per person.
