#154 CQI – Certified Quality Inspector Course Description: Designed for those who, under professional direction, can evaluate hardware documentation, perform laboratory procedures, inspect products, measure process performance, record data, and prepare formal reports. A detailed listing of the certification requirements are contained in the body of knowledge. This course is designed to supplement the knowledge of the individual having meet the requirements for certification and is not designed to teach the entire body of knowledge. Prerequisites: To apply for certification as a Mechanical Inspector, you must meet the requirements as posted on the ASQ National site . There are some special education requirements that can waive some experience requirements. Supporting Courses: Basic Probability, Inferential Statistics, Quality Tools Certification Exam Schedule: The exam is given twice per year, once in March and again in October. There is a deadline for registering for the exam. Required Course Materials: CQI Primer from the Quality Council of Indiana as well as the solution text will be provided as part of the class fee. Early registration is encouraged so that texts may be ordered and available at the first class. Supplementary Course Materials: Similar products are available from Quality Publishing. Schedule: 8 weeks, 32 hours Instructor: Greg Novacek Greg has been in the supplier management business since 1985 in varying technical disciplines and has established and managed incoming inspection departments since 1991. He spent the early years of his career in disk drive manufacturing: 7 years at IBM, 3 years at Western Digital. He has been working at Lam Research since 1994 in the Supply Chain management world and has been in some aspect of supplier quality since 1984. He has a BS from San Jose State and MS from Santa Clara University in Mechanical Engineering. Greg has been a member of ASQ since 1993 and currently holds a CQE certificate. He is active in the Section 0613, Silicon Valley Section, as part of the Leadership team. He has been Programs Chair for the section since July 2008 and in July 2009 will take Chair Elect position. He also has Education Chair responsibilities in the ASQ Customer-Supplier division since July 2008.
