Midwest Photography Workshops is instituting seven new certificate programs effective April 1, 2007.  Completion of any of the programs will mean the photographer/artist has demonstrated a mastery of the discipline.  Homework, exams, and the creation and presentation of a portfolio are among the minimum requirements toward the completion of a certificate.

Each certificate has a core group of classes and workshops designed to provide the student with a complete and diverse educational experience pertaining to that particular certificate.  By enrolling in a certificate program, the student will get approximately a 20% savings in tuition as compared with enrolling in the same classes/workshops individually.

Earning a certificate will demonstrate to a prospective client or employer, an ability to start and complete a large in-depth project.  The resulting portfolio is an integral tool or proof that the photographer is capable of doing the job.

Prior to enrollment, each student is given an assessment exam to quantify what they know.  The results of this exam is used to customize an academic plan of how best to build upon what the talents and experiences the student already has and deliver the photographic education they need.  Upon completion of the classroom portion of the program, the assessment exam is re-administered to measure the progress achieved.  Finally, an in-depth portfolio review is scheduled.

Many employers and labor unions such as the UAW offer Tuition Assistance Programs (ETAP).  Midwest Photography Workshops participates in many of these programs. MPW is also a Veterans Administration Vocational approved school. Please check with your employer to see if you qualify or contact Bryce Denison - Director of Midwest Photography Workshops at

Midwest Photographic Workshops Purchase/refund policy: Midwest Photography Workshops will make every attempt to conduct all classes and workshops as scheduled. Occasionally, insufficient enrolment causes MPW to cancel a workshop or class. Minimum enrolment or not, is determined on the Thursday preceding the class. Students, who have enrolled in a cancelled class or workshop and have paid a deposit to the class, have several options. * If any student pays for any class, workshop or photo safari using the on-line registration service and a credit card , any and all fees that are paid to the on-line registration service, Acteva registration fees will not be refunded at any time, even in the event of cancelation by Midwest . These fees are paid to Acteva and not Midwest Photography. Midwest offers this service as a convenience to its students. Any student is welcome to pay by check or cash in order to avoid these fees. * MPW can write a check to reimburse the amount they paid to enroll, and then mail them the check. (The student is also welcome to pick the check up in person at the Farmington Hills campus by appointment only.) * The student is welcome to request the deposit to be transferred to another class or workshop of their choosing provided it is not already sold out. * The student is welcome to request the deposit to be applied to another product or service provided by MPW such as: studio rental, private lessons or the purchase of a fine art print. Please contact us if yo have any questions concerning this refund policy.
