This class is limited to 12 actors. You will work on a powerful scene from Shakespeare to be assigned by the instructor. Recommended for actors who are already well grounded in the basics, and are willing to reach for complex difficult assignments and prepare themselves for performance. Audition or prior class with Lisa required for this class. 6 Monday Evenings 7-10pm, November 9, 16, 23, 30, Dec. 7 & 14th.

Lisa Wolpe is an actress, director, teacher and producer. She is the Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Women's Shakespeare Company, an award-winning all-female, multi-cultural theater company that she founded in 1993. L.A. Magazine has called seeing the LAWSC "one of the ten coolest things to do in Los Angeles". Lisa and her company have been featured on PBS, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and London's International News. Lisa has performed 20 leading male roles in the Shakespeare canon, and is internationally considered a Master Teacher of the Bard's work. Her recent performance as Shylock earned her a nomination as the finest leading actress in Los Angeles, and she has won numerous awards for her acting, directing and producing work. Other credits include Berkeley Repertory Theater, Shakespeare & Company, Boston Center for the Arts, Arizona Theater Company, San Diego Repertory Company, Boston Theater Works, California Shakespeare Festival, Southwest Shakespeare, Sedona Shakespeare, and various films and television shows. She has taught and directed Shakespeare at Boston University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Emerson College, American Conservatory Theater, University of Southern California, Cal Poly Pomona, and other schools, and been an invited guest speaker at over thirty universities. An accomplished playwright, she created an award-winning clown version of Parzival, as well as an adaptation of Macbeth for three-actor adaptation which just toured London and the Edinburgh Festival, and will be seen in Philadelphia this summer. She is currently working on a documentary of her company.
