Oceanic Society welcomes you aboard for an exciting encounter with one of the largest animals on earth - the California gray whale. The morning trip departs promptly at 9 a.m.; the afternoon trip departs at 1 p.m. from Pillar Point Harbor, Princeton-by-the-Sea, north of Half Moon Bay on the Salty Lady, our 56 ft. U.S. Coast Certified vessel (see Directions). Please check in with your naturalist in front of the restroom at the entrance to the pier, across the walkway from the Harbor Master, 30 minutes prior to departure for your boarding pass and a short indoctrination prior to boarding. It is imperative that you call 415 921-1302 to determine trip status, as sea conditions may cancel the trip. For 9 a.m. departures, call after 7 a.m.; for 1 p.m. departures, call after 11 a.m. Trip status will not be available earlier. Gray whales are coastal animals so everyone can start looking for their tall blow or tail flukes once we leave the Harbor. On this trip, we are all whale-spotters.
