Professional Development Seminar: Using Solid Models as Design Deliverables: Presents an overview of the rules, techniques, pros, cons, and best-practices for 3D Model-Based Definition, using Solid Model data sets with engineering drawings, and for using the Solid Model data set as the sole deliverable. These techniques are being used by leading-edge corporations to minimize design cycle time, streamline documentation practices, and maximize efficiency throughout design, manufacturing, inspection, and assembly. 3D Product and Manufacturing Information (3D PMI) is explained and its application is presented in detail throughout the seminar. Also discusses methods for multi-platform dissemination, using models, archival strategies, legal issues, etc. The presenter for this PDH is Bryan R. Fischer. He is President of Advanced Dimensional Management LLC and has recently authored and edited “Drawing Requirements Manual: 11th Edition”, IHS Global, 2008. This 11th Ed. includes a new 82-page chapter on ASME Y14.41-2003 and Using Solid Models as Design Deliverables. Advanced Dimensional Management provides training and consulting in 3D Product and Process Definition, 3D Annotation, 3D GD&T, PMI, Model-Based Engineering, and Optimization. Bryan works with clients and several standardization activities and CAD companies working to standardize 3D data model usage and long-term strategies for using model-based data as the primary design master. Copies of this new material will be available for purchase at the seminar. We will be in the Pyramid Lakes Room of the University place. Snacks and Lunch are included. Please sign up before 7 February.
