How real is what you see on TV? Find out at the 7th Annual Do the Dewey FUNdraiser headline program, CSI: Dewey. True crime and police drama fans can explore the real processes portrayed in the popular TV dramas CSI, CSI: New York and CSI: Miami. Police officers and authors Michael A. Black and Dave Case will set up a crime scene and demonstrate to aspiring crime-solvers how evidence is really handled. CSI: Dewey is just one of many after-hours programs offered at this annual fundraiser benefiting the Des Plaines Rotary Foundation and Des Plaines Public Library.
If cold, scientific CSI investigation isn’t quite up your alley, you may enjoy experiencing the complete opposite; “Necromancer” Neil Tobin’s strolling psychic sorcery performance, a little telepathy, a little precognition, a little magic, a little divination and a whole lot of fun.
Got to dance? Bopology, Chicago's favorite swing, jazz and Frank Sinatra group, is back with the big band sounds of Duke Ellington and the vocal style of the 'Rat Pack', playing your favorites from the 30s, ‘40s and ‘50s. Dance until you drop, then take a break to indulge in decadent milk or dark chocolate drizzled over strawberries, pretzels or marshmallows from Morkes the chocolate shop.
Looking to get creative? Bring your digital camera. Experts from the Des Plaines Camera Club will show you how to use your camera in different ways to achieve amazing results and turn your photography in to creative postcards. Also on the art front, local artist Thelma Spain will demonstrate techniques for painting with watercolours.
