Drawing upon their scholarly research and professional experience, panelists will discuss national and local causes and effects of the mortgage foreclosure crisis and the meltdown of the housing market. The emphasis will be on learning from the mistakes of the past and applying this knowledge when assessing proposed policy and practice reforms and proposed and operating local, neighborhood-based responses. What must change? How will it change? What must we as taxpayers, voters, residents, consumers, scholars, leaders and practitioners do to create positive and lasting change – or can we?
