"Confronting Islam Part 2: Changes and Developments" Headlines continue to flash with controversial stories regarding Islam. While the Oklahoma law passed in November banning the use of Shari’ah in courts was stopped through an injunction by a federal judge on the basis of the First Amendment, thirteen states across the country have introduced similar bills against Shari’ah. Meanwhile on Capitol Hill Representative Peter King is holding hearings this month on the radicalization of American Muslims, which have caused protests and counter protests across the country. What other changes and developments have occurred around the country since November? How will these changes impact American-Muslim relations? Join us as we welcome back some of our local scholars, law professors, and advocates to continue our discussion from fall. This event will consist of lunch, panelist presentations, and a question and answer and discussion session.
