With Frank Binney Enjoy spectacular ocean scenery and wildlife viewing on a hike through the Tomales Point Tule Elk Preserve with Frank Binney, a nature writer who has assisted park biologists with Tule Elk studies for over 16 years. Participants will enjoy many opportunities to watch elk behavior up close through spotting scopes and discover fascinating aspects of elk behavior. As we hike the granite ridges between the Pacific Ocean cliffs and the wilderness shoreline of Tomales Bay, we’ll explore the reasons Tule Elk nearly disappeared forever and the efforts that led to their remarkable recovery at Point Reyes National Seashore. Our journey will also likely spark your curiosity about other secrets of the Tomales Point peninsula including Coast Miwok heritage, Gold Rush-era ranching, San Andreas fault geology, raptors, coyotes, and general natural history.
