Join the SF Chapter of HAN for an exciting multimedia presentation of: The Adventures of Morton Beebe, BS '56; Photographer, Antarctic explorer...and Berkeley Business School alumnus. Morton will also speak of his involvement with Deep Flight Aviator, the winged submersible created by Graham Hawkes. Photographer Morton Beebe, a third generation San Franciscan and Berkeley alumnus, went from the paintbrush to the camera at age ten. His career started while in Naval Flight School in Pensacola Florida, where he was offered an assignment in the South Pacific. He realized later that Antarctica was not what he had in mind! Making the most of an interesting situation, he became the 39th person to reach the South Pole. He produced photo-essays that ended up in National Geographic, Life, Paris Match and Stern. He returned to Antarctica 45 years later, after two trips to the North Pole, Ice Islands T3 and Site Alpha.
As a photographer and author, Morton Beebe has explored the world. His distinctive beautiful work has been exhibited in numerous collections and published in a variety of magazines including National Geographic, Geo, Life, Smithsonian and Travel and Leisure.
Morton will share with fellow alums the winding path that brought him to a career that he could never have anticipated.
